Schematics showing crescent-shaped and ring-shaped hymenal tissue around an open vaginal opening

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ANATOMY

A small part of
a bigger picture.

The hymen is a thin piece of tissue at the vaginal opening. Its shape and thickness vary. A crescent at the lower edge and a ring around the opening are two common shapes.

This illustration helps locate the tissue discussed in hymenoplasty. It cannot tell you anything about someone’s sexual history.

A NOTE THAT MATTERS

You don’t need to
prove your history.

Hymenal appearance cannot establish sexual history. Hymenoplasty does not restore “virginity,” and bleeding cannot be guaranteed.

Your body deserves respect, whatever you decide.

QUESTIONS, WELCOMED

Let’s make
things clearer.

Is hymen.ca a medical clinic?

No. We are an independent information and enquiry resource. We do not perform procedures, diagnose conditions, or confirm that a procedure is right for you.

Does everyone need an intimate procedure?

No. Normal vulvas vary. Cosmetic surgery is a personal choice, not a requirement to meet a beauty standard. A clinician can help you understand your anatomy and any symptoms.

What should I know about costs?

Ask for a written quote in Canadian dollars that separates consultation, surgery, anaesthesia, facility charges, follow-up, and any revision costs. Do not assume advertised prices include everything.

Can I explore without sharing my history?

Yes. You can read every guide and browse provider links without entering information. Contact details are only sent when you submit the consultation form.
