COMPARE PROCEDURES

Different procedures.
Different questions.

Compare the anatomy, purpose, and limitations of three procedures. Use this as preparation for a conversation, not as a treatment recommendation.

PROCEDURE OVERVIEW

Hymenoplasty

Area of the body
Hymenal tissue at the vaginal opening.
What it involves
Surgical reconstruction or alteration of hymenal tissue.
Important limitations
It cannot restore virginity or establish sexual history. Bleeding is not guaranteed.
Recovery planning
Ask for individual recovery instructions, activity restrictions, and a follow-up plan.
A question to bring
“What can this procedure realistically change, and what outcomes can you not promise?”

PROCEDURE OVERVIEW

Labiaplasty

Area of the body
The labia, usually the inner folds of the vulva.
What it involves
Reduction or reshaping of labial tissue.
Important limitations
Normal labia vary. Surgery does not guarantee improved body confidence or satisfaction.
Recovery planning
Time away from work and full healing are different. Ask about exercise, intercourse, and managing discomfort.
A question to bring
“Is my anatomy within normal variation, and could my discomfort have another cause?”

PROCEDURE OVERVIEW

Perineoplasty

Area of the body
The perineum, between the vaginal opening and anus.
What it involves
Repair or alteration of perineal tissue, sometimes after childbirth-related changes.
Important limitations
It is different from surgery on the internal vaginal canal. Symptoms need assessment before choosing a procedure.
Recovery planning
Ask about pelvic health assessment, non-surgical alternatives, and a tailored recovery plan.
A question to bring
“What is causing my symptoms, and would non-surgical care be appropriate first?”
